I went to a wedding shower yesterday. I don’t know about you, but I always struggle with what to buy for gifts. I never want to buy completely off the registry because I like surprises. However, I’m always afraid that I might not nail the new couples style and I don’t want to leave them with anything they don’t want or have to return. This time I ended up buying the bride a sil pat off of the registry but I wanted to pair it with something a little more special. Hunting around online, I found this tutorial on Oh Fansson! Perfect. I whipped these up with some fabric from my stash (the Crate and Barrel by the pound fabric. Awesome!) to match the brides black and white kitchen. In addition to two layers of batting recommended by Elizabeth, I added a layer of Peltex I had left over from a Weekender. It’s a tad stiffer than I wanted for the pot holder but I think it’s perfect for a hotpad.

Snail Mail
It’s going to take a while to get all the pre-holiday projects ready to share with you, so I’m going to show you something I found this weekend.
I love mail. It is full of hope and possibilities. I love heading to the mailbox everyday to check for suprises. It must have been fate when I came across The Elevated Envelope hosted by Tara over at Ephemera. I think I’m going to sign up. I think you should too. Wont it be fun?
