I Would Like This in My Room

Source

I seem to be drawn to pictures of beds.   I found this one while flipping through the Crate and Barrel catalog.  I would like to lay here and stare up at those antlers and twinkle lights.  I love the subtle knit details like that pillow on the bed and the vase in the footboard.

Another Reason To Learn To Knit

Sketchbook Archive | 06.09.11

I used to carry a sketchbook with me everywhere.  I did this for four years from 2002-2006. In an effort to rekindle my ‘sketchbooking spirit’ I’m sharing excerpts from those sketchbooks here, every Friday.

Found on this page from March 2006, a spider, a woodland sprite, some swoopy things and a list of things that I like.

March 2006

I like things with pockets.

I like sleeping with the blankets pulled over my head, when no one can see my face or my feet.

Dirty lines.

Drier clothes.

That feeling you get when you enter a care that’s been sitting in a parking lot under the summer sun.

Sleeping.

Colors so good I want to lick them.

Woodland sprites.

Were I Able To Knit

In addition to that wrap, I would also make this:

(I may or may not have been coveting this hat since I saw it on Mighty Girl last October. I should probably just break down and buy it.)

and this:

Alas I Cannot Knit

I would like to make this…alas I cannot knit.

photo by Sara Maingot via http://www.realsimple.com

I may or may not have ripped this photo out of Real Simple Magazine months ago and recently found it online.  I cannot stop thinking about this wrap.  Were I to own it, I would invariably not know how to wear it.  Since I do not own it, I can pretend that it looks awesome on me.

Things That I Love: Reclaimed Drawers

photo by Martyn Thompson, prop styling by Jeffrey W. Miller, photo via Real Simple Magazine

Reading my Real Simple magazine this month I came across  this picture on page 188 and I fell in love.  Hard.  Then I did some research and found this piece from WIS Design and I fell deeper.  Oh the things I would put in those drawers.  Maybe jewelry, maybe buttons, definitely secrets.  Those drawers were made for secrets.  While I know I have no extra space in this teeny tiny apartment, you can bet your sweet bippy I’m going to be on the lookout for old drawers.  I could give them such a good home.

A Rainbow of Stitches

Does two sightings a trend make? I’m not sure, but I’m going to write about it anyway. I first saw a photo of the most beautiful quilt posted by Shannon at Aunty Cookie I’m sure she’s not the first to take colored thread to white fabric but isn’t it lovely. Rows and rows of colorful stitching beautifully set off by snowy white fabric…such a great way to play. I think this would be perfect large-scale as a bed quilt or small-scale as framed art.

Sighting number two happened at Anna Maria Horner’s blog where she hand stitched this beautiful pillow. The possibilities with this technique are endless people and sure to be stunning! I’m thinking a white pillow covered in inches would be perfect. Perfect! I am, of course, adding it to my List for Doing for the quarter. You know, because I just crossed one thing off the list I have to put another one on, never-ending style.

Dwell Studio

Have you seen this deliciousness on the cover of the new Dwell Studio catalog? I want to sleep in this bed. I just want to lay in this bed and read the stack of books in the corner.

I love the gray with the coral and in a stripe no less. That shade of red on the wall is very similar to the shade of red we painted in the front room of our old condo. (It looks a little orange in the photo but it was a beautiful red color.)

That paint is Georgian Brick by Benjamin Moore and it was beautiful with those floors.  One day when we again live somewhere where we can paint , I will paint this color on a wall.  Perhaps I should get the sheets in anticipation.

P.S. I would also like that pendant. Thank you. And maybe this rug.

Primarily Stripes

Continuing the stripey goodness, you can see my Primarily Stripes Etsy treasury here. Searching Etsy for beautiful stripes is addicting.  There are so many people making so many beautiful things.  I offer you a sneak peek from contemori shop. (I want this whale!)
